The post included an infographic showcasing Allen’s season stats, which featured 3,731 passing yards, 531 rushing yards, and a combined total of 40 touchdowns. The caption stated, "!!MVP JOSH!!"
Allen’s recognition as MVP has triggered a flood of reactions across social platforms, with numerous fans sharing their thoughts on the decision. Some users on X (formerly Twitter) voiced dissatisfaction, arguing that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson deserved the award more.
One individual remarked, "MVP award is officially meaningless in the NFL. Josh Allen bad no business winning it. Most overrated player in the league. Guy has more rule changes happen because of him than anyone in the league [sic]…" Another added, "Lamar was robbed Josh Allen didn't deserve that over him btw [sic]." The debate carried on, with strong opinions favoring other players. "Lamar did all that work this year on the football field to get snubbed by Josh Allen for the MVP award.. Disappointed [sic]!" one user noted.

The dialogue extended beyond X, with comparable sentiments surfacing on Instagram. One user commented, "Lamar was robbed he was better in almost every stat [sic]." However, not all feedback was unfavorable. Some users backed Allen’s MVP selection. One person on X simply stated, "He did have a good season!" Another chimed in, "WELL DESERVED."
Despite the divided reactions, Allen’s MVP victory stemmed from an exceptional season. He guided the Buffalo Bills to a 13-4 record, securing their fifth straight AFC East division title. Allen also etched his name in history by becoming the first player in NFL history to achieve five consecutive seasons with 40 or more total touchdowns. His efforts earned him 27 first-place votes and 383 total points, while runner-up Jackson garnered 23 first-place votes and 362 points.
At the NFL Honors event in New Orleans, Allen delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech, acknowledging his teammates, coaches, and family.
"A lot of people to thank. I know I'm going to forget a few so I apologize in advance. I'd like to thank God first and foremost for allowing me to be here today," Allen began. "I'd like to acknowledge the other nominees—Jared, Joe, Saquon, Lamar—all had great seasons, and all could be standing here today, and you guys would be deserving of it. You guys are true stewards of the game. I look up to you guys. I admire you guys. I just look forward to sharing the gridiron in the future with you too."
Allen also expressed gratitude to the Bills organization, specifically mentioning team owners Terry and Kim Pegula, general manager Brandon Beane, and head coach Sean McDermott. "I know this is an individual award, and it says Most Valuable Player on it, but I think it's derived from team success, and I love my team."
He extended thanks to his parents, reflecting on their steadfast support throughout his football journey. "I'd like to thank Joel and LaVonne, my parents," Allen said. "Who, in my 20-plus years of playing football going down to Pop Warner, I bet you they've missed maybe 15 games in their entire life."
Allen wrapped up his speech with a touching message to his fiancée, actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.
"And last but not least, my fiancée, Hailee. You've been my rock, you're my best friend. I would not be standing on this stage if it weren't for you. So with that being said, be good, do good. God bless and go Bills," Allen concluded.
Many supporters believed Jackson had a stronger case for MVP. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback, who finished second in voting, had a statistically remarkable season. Jackson ended the year with 4,172 passing yards, placing sixth in the league. He also tied for second in total touchdowns with 41 and threw just four interceptions, tying for 70th in the league. His quarterback rating of 77.2 ranked second-highest among all quarterbacks.
