SZA had been adhering to a balanced diet and consistent exercise routine when she opted to accelerate her physical transformation with a BBL. Nevertheless, she has since voiced regret about the decision, with some supporters pointing out that she never needed it in the first place.
One of the acts scheduled to perform at Super Bowl LIX on February 10, 2025, is Grammy-winning vocalist SZA. She once attempted to alter her appearance through a BBL but now wishes she hadn’t. Below is an overview of her journey and the public’s reactions.

SZA's Personal Challenges
In a previous interview, the artist behind "Kill Bill" opened up about the personal difficulties she has encountered over time. During a 2016 conversation, SZA, whose birth name is Solána Rowe, admitted, "My life has just been falling the [expletive] apart."

She shared, "I buried, like, three ex-boyfriends, my granny died, I buried someone two days ago… I'm devastated by the state of the world and the hatred." The R&B star confessed that some days she felt vengeful and combative, while on others, she felt defeated and overwhelmed with tears, struggling to make sense of the events unfolding around her.
During those trying times, the "Good Days" singer leaned on her faith, saying, "Then you start getting biblical, like, 'Why is this happening to my people?' Then you go through, 'It's never going to change, so might as well just go with the flow.' And then you go through, 'No. I'm not asking anymore. I'm going to make it change.'"

She found solace in educating herself about global issues and causes close to her heart. SZA spent countless nights researching topics such as environmental concerns, social injustices, and the treatment of animals in zoos and SeaWorld.
The artist admitted that for a period, she lived in a bubble where she believed these matters didn’t affect her. However, as she matured, she began to understand the realities of the world. She explained, "But I feel alive and clear on what I want. I don't have the energy to create a filter anymore."
SZA gained recognition after catching the eye of Top Dawg Entertainment with her self-released work. As she navigated personal struggles, she also faced challenges related to her health and self-perception. At one point, she decided to enhance her appearance through a BBL, a choice she later came to regret.
SZA's BBL Experience
During a November 2024 interview, SZA discussed grappling with unexplained health problems, including allergies and autoimmune conditions. She recounted how, at one stage, her hands were peeling, and her hair was falling out.
The "Snooze" artist described her symptoms, "My nail beds were separating from my fingers and coming off. It was so gross." While touring, she found temporary relief through medications like dexamethasone, Plaquenil, and prednisone.
In 2019, she maintained a strict diet, avoiding red meat, dairy, wheat, and sugar. Her meals primarily consisted of fish, vegetables, complex carbohydrates like squash, avocado, and sweet potatoes, along with plenty of water.
However, her decision to undergo a BBL came after she began working out in early 2022. Although her muscle growth progressed rapidly, her glutes took longer to develop, prompting her to opt for surgery.
After the procedure, SZA reflected on the experience, "I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid." She eventually realized that the BBL hadn’t been necessary, admitting, "I'm so mad I did that [expletive]."
The artist acknowledged that the surgery wasn’t as essential as other personal areas she wished to address, such as her mental health. She further elaborated, "Not to say you can't do those things simultaneously, just, for me, I realise wherever you go, there you'll be. But I love my butt."
SZA continued, "Don't get me wrong. My booty look[s] nice. And I'm grateful that it looks pretty much… I don't know, sometimes natural, but I don't even care. It's something that I wanted. I'm enjoying it. I love shaking it."
Despite her regrets, she expressed openness to considering other procedures in the future, stating that her body is only temporary.

Upon seeing a bikini photo of the artist, an X user remarked, "She is one of the prettiest American artist[s] at the moment."
SZA's debut full-length album, "Ctrl," released in 2017, received widespread acclaim and eventually achieved platinum status. However, her 2022 album, "SOS," marked an even greater milestone. It topped the Billboard 200 chart and earned her the 2024 Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album.
In 2022, she collaborated with Doja Cat on "Kiss Me More," which won them a Grammy. Over the years, she has worked with numerous high-profile artists, including Drake, Rihanna, and Kendrick Lamar. She is set to join Lamar as a guest performer during the Apple Music Halftime Show at Super Bowl LIX.
