"Between sports and music, I was good at both," Batiste shared in an Instagram video. "But music—lucky for me—has brought me back home for the big game." He captioned the post, "Coming home to sing the anthem at the Super Bowl next week🙏🏾God bless🙏🏾🇺🇸."

In a recent interview, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about how meaningful this performance is for him personally. He revealed that he’s dedicating it to his late grandfather, who played a crucial role in shaping his life. “I’m thinking alot about my personal story and the story in this country and the story of how we can honor the best of us,” Batiste said. "You know my grand father in my life was one of my great mentors."
Batiste described his grandfather as a pioneer who helped integrate the U.S. Navy. "He was the first wave of integrating the navy. He was the first wave of many of our greatest achievements," he explained. Batiste went on to say that his performance transcends music, emphasizing that he’s singing to pay tribute to his family’s legacy and those who have served the nation. He noted that his performance is dedicated to individuals who understand both the significance of freedom and the sorrow of losing it.
