Unearthed 900-year-old Vatican book has eerie prediction for when ‘Judgement Day’ will come

Who needs Baba Vanga and Nostradamus?

You sinners had better start repenting, because apparently, Judgment Day is upon us.

And no, we don’t mean the day when Skynet gains sentience and triggers a nuclear holocaust in the Terminator franchise.

For the Catholic Church, Judgment Day could bring around a very different kind of retribution, as it’s supposedly the day that Jesus Christ returns to our mortal realm and casts judgment on us all.

Written by Saint Malachy, the Prophecy of the Popes is an ancient religious text that reveals when Judgment Day will fall upon us.

Kept in the bowels of the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, the Prophecy of the Popes is comprised of 112 cryptic Latin phrases that describe every Pope from 1143’s Pope Celestine II in 1143 to the current pontiff, Pope Leo XIV.

At the center of the book is the supposed Judgment Day when Christians think Jesus Christ will return to us.

If you’re looking for a date to pencil in your diary, 2027 is the big one.

We’ve got two years until Jesus’ Judgment Day, so you’d better get your affairs in order. In Prophecy of the Popes, the final passage reads: “In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”

Before you start writing your last will and testament (not that it matters), Prophecy of the Popes has been written off by many.

There are numerous scholars who claim it’s a forgery of the real Saint Malachy’s work, published in the 16th Century by Benedictine monk Arnold Wion.

It’s said that the original text was written by Saint Malachy following a vision he had after a visit to Rome in 1139. This has since been disputed amid claims that it was published in 1595.

Despite all of this, some of these prophecies have been taken seriously, including one that foresaw the 111th Pope would be called Gloria Olivae, which translates as ”Glory to the Olive’.

It’s true that the 111th Pope was actually called Pope Benedict, but as the Order of Saint Benedicts are known as the Olivetans, it’s led some to think it’s still correct.

Elsewhere, it’s thought that Prophecy of the Popes‘ line about “De labore Solis” (translating to ‘eclipse of the sun’) predicted Pope John Paul’s reign from 1978 to 2005 because his birth during a solar eclipse in 1920. His funeral also coincided with a solar eclipse on April 8, 2005.

As for Jesus’ return, look out for 2027 as the potential time when we’ll all be judged for our sins.
