‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Alum Teddi Mellencamp Hospitalized & Undergoing Surgery — Details

A serious health crisis has landed the American TV personality and podcast host in the hospital, where she is now set to have a crucial surgical procedure.

Teddi Mellencamp, an ex-cast member of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” is in the hospital and undergoing surgery following the discovery of multiple tumors on her brain by doctors. The 43-year-old reality TV personality announced the news in a sincere Instagram post on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Mellencamp revealed in her post that she had been experiencing “severe and debilitating headaches” for a number of weeks. On Tuesday, the pain became too much to bear, so she went to the doctor.

A CT scan and MRI revealed the existence of multiple brain tumors, which doctors think had been growing for at least half a year.

Mellencamp stated that two of the tumors were scheduled to be surgically removed on Wednesday. The remaining, smaller tumors will receive radiation therapy at a later time. “I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health,” she “added”.

Mellencamp expressed her gratitude for the support she has had, despite the diagnosis. She expressed gratitude to everyone who had gotten in touch with her and had been by her side during this trying period.

Mellencamp shared peeks of her time in the hospital on her Instagram story while she awaited surgery. She mentioned in one of her stories that she was waiting for her children to get there.

She also shared words from her father, “As my dad said this am, god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be ok.”

Another post showed her preparing for the operation by having a friend shave her head. She jokingly “said” in an accented voice in the video, “I’m going to have this look on my bucket list. My best look.” The in-lay text on the clip read, “All I need now is an umbrella.”

Mellencamp wasn’t by herself as she had the surgery. A last post before surgery showed her with loved ones all around her, including Kyle Richards, her co-star. She turned the camera to her friends in the video and “asked”, “Here we go. How many minutes? What’s the countdown?” before learning that she had 10 minutes until surgery began.

Mellencamp has been outspoken about her continuous struggle with melanoma, a kind of skin cancer. She disclosed in a September 13, 2023, Instagram post that she had been given a diagnosis of another melanoma, and that she had lost count of whether it was her “12th or 13th one.”

“I have been debating whether I should even publicly talk about this or not but then I remember how every time I post about skin cancer someone else is reminded to get checked,” she “wrote”.

She talked about sleepless nights and worry over the diagnosis, but she stayed committed to moving forward. “As I lay here with tears in my eyes and worry, I know my kids will be up soon. I have a podcast at 10. Life goes on,” she “continued”, reminding herself and others, “We can do hard things.”

Mellencamp uploaded photos of her scars from prior melanoma procedures with her message. One of the images showed a close-up of her back, with an arrow pointing to a dark area among several surgical scars.

“We have so many beautiful things to look forward to, so if you woke up today feeling lost or scared, I encourage you to make a list of some of the things you are truly grateful for and what you are most excited about… We have got this. Love to you all. We are not alone,” she “concluded” her post.

Mellencamp shared an update just three months later, on December 27, 2023, following a successful treatment. “Surgery went well!” she “wrote”, explaining that she underwent a wide excision melanoma, soft tissue defect reconstruction with adjacent tissue rearrangement.

She described the procedure as doctors cutting out part of her shoulder and replacing it with a flap of skin from her back. “But the pain and discomfort are all worth it,” she “added”.

Mellencamp also “expressed” gratitude for the overwhelming support she had received. “The outpouring of love and prayers in the comments and DMs has left me speechless (which is tough). I wish I could respond to everyone but please know I am forever grateful.”

She ended the post with a strong “message”, “Please get your skin checked. I promise you do not want to go through this.”

Mellencamp is still optimistic as she receives treatment, in spite of the difficulties. She is approaching each stage with resolve, backed by her family, friends, and medical staff.
