During Super Bowl week, Patrick Mahomes’ father, a former MLB pitcher, and John Rocker, also a former MLB pitcher, had a heated verbal confrontation on Bourbon Street. The situation escalated to the point where they had to be physically restrained.
The question remains: was this genuine animosity or a staged event to promote a future celebrity boxing match?

On Tuesday, video is circulating that seems to show a fight. The video depicts Pat Sr. talking with a group of friends. Then, the former pitcher for the Atlanta Braves walked toward him. Rocker seemed to be initiating a handshake. However, the situation quickly deteriorated. Pat Sr. appeared displeased to see him.

The two groups argued intensely, until Mahomes’ companions stepped in to separate them.
Many words were spoken, likely of an offensive nature.
As Patrick Mahomes Sr. departed, Rocker threw a beverage in his direction.
The timing of the incident remains uncertain; attempts to gain clarity are ongoing.
Notably, Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports recently mentioned Rocker and Mahomes Sr. as potential participants in an upcoming Rough ‘N’ Rowdy boxing match.

Rocker recently posted a comment on the video, stating, “This freaking loser can’t handle a single joke.”
“Wish I laid him out right there and ruined his bulls*** weekend even more.”
Rocker’s baseball career included stints with four teams – the Braves, Cleveland, the Devil Rays, and the Rangers – yet his notoriety stemmed more from his inflammatory persona.
Conversely, Pat Sr. played for six different clubs – the Twins, Red Sox, Mets, Rangers, Cubs, and Pirates – but the two never shared a major league roster.
