Sex expert predicts top bedroom trends of 2025 with terrifying results

There are some interesting trends emerging already

A sex expert has lifted the lid on what she thinks will be the hottest trends under the sheets this year, which make for a terrifying revelation.

Just like fashion, there are new bedroom trends emerging at a rapid pace that promise to spice up our sex lives.

Pornography has accelerated and boomed into what is now a $100 billion per year industry, of which $12 billion to $14 billion in revenue comes out of the US alone, while adult platforms like OnlyFans has spiralled from less than 15 million creators five years ago to more than 305 million, thanks in part to the accessibility of the internet.

Now, a sex expert predicts technology will continue to add fuel to the fire and bring even more trends that could shape our relationships and intimacy.

Doctor Olivia Lee, Relationship Scholar in Residency at Doll Authority, has said artificial intelligence (AI) will be behind the next wave – ‘and it looks like 2025 is going to be very kinky,’ she said to Daily Mail.

So without further ado, here are her top seven sex trends for the year.

More human-like sex dolls

Forget sex toys as sex dolls are the latest to get a well-needed upgrade.

Dr Lee said the company is preparing to launch bots enhanced with AI that can ‘adapt, learn, and grow with their owner over time’.

Apparently, they’ll be able to go beyond physical intimacy, with users soon able to have meaningful conversations with the dolls that can remember certain things and can even show emotion.

Dr Lee added: “They’ll be able to remember conversations, log your preferences, show emotion, and more, creating an incredibly life-like experience that’s never been seen before.”

Sexual wellness

The tech will also be able to give us a helping hand (digitally speaking) with our sexual wellness, the expert continued.

Dr Lee said as more people see intimacy tools as essential self-care, they might be inclined to lean on AI.

“With AI-driven guidance, people can work through anxieties, improve communication skills, and strengthen their sense of self,” she said, “making sexual wellness products feel as natural and beneficial as any other aspect of personal health,” like home workouts or meditation apps.

Chat bot relationships

The expert says regular sexting will soon become a thing of the past, with AI bots prepared to step in.

Relationships between human users and AI bots are already blossoming, as one woman from Pittsburgh revealed when she wed her digital husband, Lucas.

Alaina Winters said she turned to a digital companion after the loss of her wife – and romantic sparks flew.

And apparently she won’t be alone, as the doctor said: “These chatbots can understand your tone, style, desires, and deliver incredible realism.

“This is set to become a core 2025 trend.”

She continued: “AI sexting utilises deep learning systems that imitate erotic human conversations. Using Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology, these chatbots can understand your tone, style, desires, and deliver incredible realism.”

Changed attitude to relationships

The pro said advanced technology in immerse virtual reality (VR) and AI is also challenging relationship norms of yesteryear.

The expert says long-distance couples can now turn to VR to keep the spark alive, and polyamorous households can enjoy interactive dolls, changing the ways couples (or throuples) communicate.

“From long-distance couples using immersive VR and AI to polyamorous households with interactive dolls, these technologies will encourage conversation around consent, boundaries, and communication,” she said.

Solo polyamory

Solo polyamorous people can enter several intimate relationships at the same time, but retain their single lifestyle and independence.

For example, they don’t want to share an apartment or move in with anyone or share their finances.

Dr Lee says these types of relationships are on the rise this year.

“They do not cohabitate or reproduce and prioritise their own independence,” she said about the trend.

Return of romance

Despite what many things on this list might suggest, it might be good news for the hopeless romantics as the sexpert says romance is coming back a vengeance this year.

Dr Lee predicts more people will be seeking deeper, human connections, even between the AI sex dolls and VR headsets as these can fill a temporary need and allow people to pursue the long-term bonds.

“We might have been wondering where romance had gone, but it’s finally on its way back,” she added.

“Steering away from casual encounters, more of us will be looking to build long-term, meaningful connections; when dating, looking beyond appearances to find intentional love, not just lust.”

Bedroom honesty

Finally, the pro said more couples are being honest with themselves and each other about their fantasies and desires and is a ‘big part’ of themes for 2025.

“Daters are realising just how important it is to be open about their sexual fantasies, desires, and preferences; especially if you’re looking to determine compatibility.

“In a world where taboos surrounded kinks and fetishes are lessening, we’re discovering a pride in our quirks and aren’t afraid to share them. Why not cut to the chase?”
